Second Annual Terry Demming Memorial Game Honors the Spirit of Baseball & Terry Demming

The second annual Terry Demming Memorial Baseball Game took place on Monday, June 19, 2023, at Terry Demming Field in Glenfield Park, in Montclair New Jersey. The field was renamed by Essex County in honor of Terry in the Fall of 2022 and this year's game ended in dramatic fashion at this special place.
Florence Demming offered this to the Essex County Leadership, "To be able to visit this field named in Terry's honor and actually hold this game here in his memory is something that is just so special. The foundation appreciates the support of the County of Essex leadership in recognizing Terry's memory in this special way."

The event commenced with opening ceremonies paying tribute to the life and spirit of Terry Demming and highlighted the work of the Terry Demming Foundation. Terry's family was present and an online welcome was offered by Terry's mother, Kathryn Weller Demming who could not attend because of an event for Terry's Sister.

The opening ceremony featured one of Terry's former coaches, Noah Dnestrian who recalled Terry's character, deep passion for baseball, and the strong bonds he had with his friends and family.
Adam Scigliano, representing Montclair Little League, gave board member Florence Demming a commemorative all star jersey with the Terry's number #2 - the number Terry wore because of his hero, Yankee shortstop Derek Jeter.
There ceremony concluded with Vincent Demming, Terry's father and the President of the Terry Demming Foundation Board, welcoming and thanking all participants for their attendance.
Coaches distributed "T2" stickers with a QR code that point to the download page for the water safety app that will launch in the Fall 2023.

The game featured an exhilarating match-up between the Montclair Little League All-Star Team and the Iron Nine (I9) U12 Club team from Northern New Jersey. The squad from I9 generously agreed to play in this year's game despite their busy schedule. The game did not disappoint.
Coaches distributed "T2" stickers, which stands for Terry and the #2 he chose he wore after his hero, Derek Jeter. The T2 sticker are more than a moment.
The game proved to be a captivating contest, with Montclair staging an impressive comeback in the last inning, when Tanner Addair hit a dramatic last inning grand slam to tie the game. This year's event ended in a 12-12 tie due to late hour.
As the park lights dimmed at 9:30 PM, with two outs in the final inning and the winning run from Montclair on third base, Vincent Demming, President of the Board of Directors for the Terry Demming Foundation expressed that it felt as though Terry himself was saying, "Thank you" to both teams, emphasizing that the spirit of the game surpassed the need for a winner.
The second annual Terry Demming Memorial game served as a testament to Terry's enduring legacy and the impact he had on the lives of those around him. It brought together players, coaches, friends, and family, celebrating Terry's love for baseball and reminding everyone of the values he cherished - teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship. The Terry Demming Foundation extends its gratitude to all participants, supporters, and volunteers who made this memorial game a resounding success. The foundation will continue its mission to honor Terry's memory by promoting water safety.
Fall Event Schedule - T2 Tournament/Weekend of September 23rd and 24th
In Fall 2023, the foundation is launching a Water Safety Mobile for Apple IOS and Android around first annual "T2 Tournament" (The "T" representing Terry's first name and the #2 being the number Terry wore in honor of his hero, Derek Jeter) and related fundraiser in the Fall of 2023.
The first "T2" tournament and second annual fundraiser will be held over the the weekend of September 23rd and 24th. The fundraiser will take place the evening of Saturday, September 23rd, 2023.
"Our goal is to use technology and the power of baseball to create awareness regarding the issue of water safety. Every baseball player is a messenger and each tournament participant is part of that message, explained board member Florence Demming.
The T2 tournaments will distribute the T2 stickers for players to wear on their helmets, provide pre tournament education to coaches to distribute to their teams with the goal of making each participant and advocate for water safety. The stickers include the QR code which drives people to the Water Safety mobile app download page.
"We are honoring Terry's memory and every time a new user downloads the free mobile application, we are providing information on the topic of water safety," explained Vincent Demming.

The Terry Demming Foundation honors the life of Terry Demming, who passed away in 2018 at 7 years old in a drowning accident. The foundation's mission is to support water safety through the distribution of education, instruction, and best practices through technology.
