Terry Demming Foundation Announces New Spring Fall Event Schedule

The Terry Demming Foundation Unveils Exciting Spring-Fall Schedule, Highlighting Water Safety Initiatives


The Terry Demming Foundation is pleased to unveil its Spring-Fall Event schedule, with initiatives that prioritize water safety. The foundation's mission is to promote knowledge, understanding, and practical best practices regarding water safety. The foundation aims to ensure the safety and enjoyment of water activities for all individuals, with a special focus on educating people of color regarding safety around water.


The schedule kicks off with the spring event, the Annual Terry Demming Memorial game held in honor of Terry Demming and held at the Terry Demming Field in Montclair New Jersey. This year's event will be played on Monday, June 19, 2023 at 7:00PM at Terry Demming Field in Glenfield Park in Montclair, New Jersey.


Vincent Demming, President of the Board and Terry's father, emphasized the importance of the annual memorial game, saying, "The spring game will offer a moment to remember Terry and the joy he experienced playing baseball, enjoying the company of his friends, and being surrounded by his family. Terry was a unifying presence in the world, and we want nothing more than for his family to come together once a year to remember him and the special qualities he brought to the world."


The "T2" Sticker will include a QR code that links to the foundations water safety download link.

At the game all participants will receive T2 Sticker to wear on their helmets. The T2 Sticker is part of the foundations plan to distribute its water safety app to be launched in the fall. The sticker will include a QR code that links to the download page for the water safety mobile application.


Looking ahead to the fall season, the Terry Demming Foundation has an exciting lineup of events planned. The highlight is the inaugural "T2" Tournament, a fall baseball tournament that aims to expand its reach nationwide. "T2" combines Terry's first initial and the number he wore on his jersey, the number 2, which he took from his hero, Derek Jeter. The tournament will unite players from various backgrounds, promoting inclusivity while commemorating Terry's spirit and love for the sport. All participants will be provide a T2 sticker to wear on their helmet with the QR code to the download link.


Alongside the "T2" Tournament, the foundation will host a related fundraiser, which will further support the mission of the foundation and its commitment to water safety. This event provides an opportunity for the foundation to raise funds to further its programs.


In conjunction with the fall events, the Terry Demming Foundation is excited to announce the launch of its water safety app. This app, available for free for download on both Apple iOS and Android platforms will be available in the fall in conjunction with the fall tournament.


Version one of the water safety app will provide users of all ages with simple to understand best practices for water safety. Users will have access to essential guidelines, emergency procedures, and educational materials, empowering them to make informed decisions and enjoy water activities responsibly. Future versions will add in resources that teach users how to swim and be safe.


Florence Demming, board vice president and Terry's grandmother, emphasized the significance of these initiatives, stating, "Water safety is our top priority, and we are dedicated to equipping individuals with the knowledge and resources needed to ensure their safety in and around water. Through our spring-fall events and the launch of our water safety app, we aim to create a culture of safety, unity, and enjoyment in water activities."
